My few days at Chilled Out have been memorable and enjoyable. We were picked up f rom a close by restaurant famous for making humbaos popular.

Dumplings of sweet dough wrapped around pork and sauce, I strongly suggest filling up on these delectibles. Our first stop was YK's guest house, a veritable garden of eden with nice dogs running about and fruit trees hanging heavy with produce. These and the well manucured grounds could not distract me f rom the expansive view of YK's "pond" the Pacific Ocean . In days since I've spent many hours gazing out at the water, watching the weather on the 35km distant Green Island and fishing boats plying to and fro. Quick stop at the guest house then off to Chilled Out, a nice bungalow style house with an even better view of Dulan and Dulan Bay . Swimming pool, hammock naps and total relaxation are the activities of the day, interspersed with eating delicious local food.

Visiting with YK's friends in Dulan, the surrounding area and in the East Rift Valley on the inland side of Dulan Mountain have given me a truly local experience. Sitting down to eat dumplings, crab and lobster, heart of palm soup, chicken and their hard boiled eggs and washed down with tasty Taiwan Beer and home brewed rice booze are some of the culinary delights I've experienced with YK as my friend and guide.

Yesterday we toured around for the day on his all terrain vehicles with some other Dulanites visiting friends and checking out the green valley and beach lined shores. I was yelling with glee as we cruised along the sandy beach, turning doughnuts and whizzing through the surf. We saw farms, rice paddies, monkeys, eagles, rivers, mountains, roads in all sorts of conditions, mountaintop views offering over 270 degree vistas, and all kinds of fruit. One highlight I'll always remember was drinking pots and pots of tea around a stone table and benches while looking out on the East Rift Valley with huge butterflies flitting about. Topped off with dinner at a local restaurant of shrimp, peppered chicken, squid, various vegetable dishes with exciting flavors and some kind of chilled fruity tea. My only regret was not wearing sunscreen. This exhausting yet satisfying day was followed by one of naps, eating and taking dips in the pool. I've had great times and plan on returning for more fun, food and sun.

Thank you for your hospitality and friendship YK
